About Gold & Oil Verdict

Gold and oil move, and the headlines rarely explain why in words most people can use. Gold & Oil Verdict does one job: it answers "why is it moving today?" in plain English.

How it works

Every few minutes the site checks the prices and a set of news feeds. Most headlines are dropped. A story appears only if it can move the price and has a clear direction, and it gets a verdict for gold, for Brent oil, or for both: bullish or bearish, with a one-line reason and a line on when the effect usually reaches the price, from right now to over the coming months.

Gold is also checked every minute, and Brent about once an hour. When the price moves sharply, the site says by how much and names the story that most likely caused it. If no story clearly fits, it says so rather than guessing.

The gold page also shows the levels many traders watch, candles built from the site's own checks every 20 seconds, the news mood, the trading sessions, and the US dollar and yields. A Telegram bot answers commands such as /gold, /levels and /next.

The verdicts are produced automatically and can be wrong. They describe what the news usually means, not what the price will do.

Where the data comes from

Gold and metal prices come from gold-api.com, and the Brent price comes from OilPriceAPI. Exchange rates come from ExchangeRate-API. Economic release dates come from the Forex Factory calendar. Yields, the dollar index and past Brent prices come from the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis (FRED). Headlines come from the publishers' public news feeds and link back to them.
